[Comparison] Intel Core i5-1240P vs AMD Ryzen 5 5500U – A best-seller in the making

AMD was up to some trickery in 2021, with three Ryzen 5000U-series processors that were gladly relying on the older Zen 2 architecture. Still, the SKUs deliver good performance, and the laptops with them are very well priced.

Now, it’s 2022, and AMD has bigger fish to fry, mainly the new Alder Lake processors which have been tearing up the market. Today we have an interesting battle between the Core i5-1240P, which looks to be a candidate for a mid-range CPU for everyone, regardless of what you do, and the Ryzen 5 5500U, to see if the 2021 CPU can handle some of Alder Lake’s stuff.

Here is our Top Laptop CPU Ranking, which has the best laptop CPUs in a list, based on performance.

Today we are comparing the Intel Core i5-1240P against the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U.
