How to open Acer TravelMate P2 (TMP214-55) – disassembly and upgrade options


Opening the Device

  1. Undo the 11 Phillips-head screws securing the bottom panel.
  2. Pop the zones behind the hinges with a lever tool to create gaps in the top two corners between the chassis and panel.
  3. Work your way around the sides, the front, and the rear to remove the bottom panel.

More info: The battery is not secured with screws because there is a dedicated socket for it on the inside of the bottom plate.


Battery Removal

  1. Detach the battery connector from the motherboard.
  2. Lift the battery away from the base.

Note: The device comes with a 50Wh battery, but an optional 65Wh model is available. The 50Wh battery provides approximately 9 hours of video playback.


Memory Information

  1. The memory section is covered with foil, and the two SODIMMs can handle up to 64GB of DDR4-3200MHz RAM in dual-channel mode.
  2. Since the CPU can support up to 96GB, the laptop likely wouldn’t have issues running more than the official manufacturer’s specified limit.

Storage Upgrade

  1. Locate the single M.2 slot compatible with Gen 4 SSDs.
  2. Install the new SSD into the slot.
