4 reasons to BUY the ASUS Chromebook Flip CM3 (CM3200)

1. Design and build quality

Despite its affordable nature, the Chromebook comes with an aluminum lid that is quite strong, something to do with the Glass display over in front. The laptop has a Silver color on the outside, while the base and the bezels of the display are covered in black. The base, being made of plastic, isn’t the most durable thing that we have seen, but it will still be fine for normal use. In terms of weight and height, the laptop stops the scales at 1.14 kg and has a profile of 16.8 mm. The design of the laptop is also different from any other Chromebook on the market, appearing more stylish with sharp edges and corners.

2. Battery life

The laptop comes with a 32Wh battery unit. We tested the battery life with GFXBench’s battery lifetime test, whilst setting the screen brightness to 120 nits. Despite its small 32Wh battery, this laptop is a real champ in terms of screen-on times. Even during the intensive gaming test, the laptop lasted for 14 hours and 11 minutes.

3. I/O

The device comes with slim coverage, but still has the basics, including two USB ports, with one Type-A and one Type-C port, a MicroSD card slot, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

4. Display quality

The 12.0-inch 3:2 IPS panel with an HD+ resolution has comfortable viewing angles, a max brightness of 305 nits, and a contrast ratio of 1500:1. It also shows no usage of PWM, which is ideal for prolonged use. Color coverage isn’t its strong suit, however, with the panel covering only 54% of the sRGB gamut. However, with the added stylus pen, you can still use the device for drawing and art, if you plan on learning the craft.

1 reason NOT to buy the ASUS Chromebook Flip CM3 (CM3200)

1. Upgradeability

Sadly, both the RAM and storage here are soldered onto the board. Here we can also see a single heat pipe, which keeps the SoC’s temps in check.
