Dell Vostro 15 7510 – Top 5 Pros and Cons

Office laptops are starting to bulk up a bit in terms of performance. Today we have one recent example in the face of the Dell Vostro 15 7510, which focuses as much on portability as they do on performance.

With the combination of Tiger lake H45 chips and RTX graphics, even the lowest end RTX 3050, the laptop brings a satisfying degree of gaming and productivity performance, especially when you factor in that Dell tries to keep the notebook as lightweight and as slim as possible. The display that is here also provides good enough color coverage and accuracy to be used for professional work, making the laptop very versatile.

Today we are presenting you with LaptopMedia’s top 5 picks about the Dell Vostro 15 7510.

Dell Vostro 15 7510: Full Specs / In-depth Review

4 reasons to BUY the Dell Vostro 15 7510

1. Design and build quality

The laptop does arrive with an aluminum body, which feels good to the touch and is decently durable. The base and lid show a tiny bit of flex, but we would call the durability satisfying for most people. The color of the exterior is also chosen well, with the gunmetal grey complementing the sharp edges and lift mechanism on the lid really well.

The base features a horizontal speaker grill, along with a full keyboard with a NumPad, but the power button is bundled with the rest of the keys, which might contribute to random shutdowns. In terms of weight and height, the device weighs only 1.86 kg and has a profile of 18.9 mm, surprisingly portable, despite the hardware inside.

2. I/O

The laptop doesn’t have the widest I/O coverage in terms of quantity, but it does have everything you might need. On the left side, there is an HDMI 2.0 port, a USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, and a Thunderbolt 4 port. Then, on the right, we see a 3.5 mm audio jack, a USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, and an SD card reader.

3. Upgradeability

While we have seen better, you can’t deny that the upgradeability here is on point. There are two SODIMM RAM slots, along with two M.2 PCIe x4 drives, one of which only fits 30mm drives.

Here is a detailed teardown video, which shows how to access both the RAM and SSD slots.

4. Display quality

There is a single display choice, with a 15.6-inch diagonal, FHD resolution. It uses an IPS panel with comfortable viewing angles, a max brightness of 336 nits in the middle of the screen, and 322 nits as an average for the whole area, with a maximum deviation of 13%. The contrast ratio isn’t as high as other laptops, but it is good enough – 850:1. The important thing is that it covers 91% of the sRGB color gamut, making it ready for color-sensitive work.

The panel also reaches great levels of color accuracy, with our Design and Gaming profile lowering the dE value to 1.3. Here are the results from our tests with the factory settings (left) and with our profile applied (right).

Buy our profiles

Since our profiles are tailored for each individual display model, this article and its respective profile package are meant for Dell Vostro 15 7510 configurations with 15.6″ FHD IPS LG 447CX-156WFH (LGD06A6).

In addition to receiving efficient and health-friendly profiles, by buying LaptopMedia's products you also support the development of our labs, where we test devices in order to produce the most objective reviews possible.

Office Work

Office Work should be used mostly by users who spend most of the time looking at pieces of text, tables or just surfing. This profile aims to deliver better distinctness and clarity by keeping a flat gamma curve (2.20), native color temperature and perceptually accurate colors.

Design and Gaming

This profile is aimed at designers who work with colors professionally, and for games and movies as well. Design and Gaming takes display panels to their limits, making them as accurate as possible in the sRGB IEC61966-2-1 standard for Web and HDTV, at white point D65.

Health-Guard

Health-Guard eliminates the harmful Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) and reduces the negative Blue Light which affects our eyes and body. Since it’s custom tailored for every panel, it manages to keep the colors perceptually accurate. Health-Guard simulates paper so the pressure on the eyes is greatly reduced.

1 reason NOT to buy the Dell Vostro 15 7510

1. Battery life

The battery life was going to suffer when you factor in that our configuration sported the smaller 56Wh battery pack while powering a Core i5-11400H and an RTX 3050. The unit delivered only 6 hours and 15 minutes of Web browsing, or 6 hours and 48 minutes of video playback. Now, we conduct the battery tests with Windows Better performance setting turned on, screen brightness adjusted to 120 nits, and all other programs turned off except for the one we are testing the notebook with.
