First impressions of Lenovo Vibe P1 – a stylish aluminum body housing a 5000 mAh battery

We’ve already shared our first impressions of Lenovo Vibe P1m and now we’re going to do the same, but with its bigger and somewhat more premium sibling – Vibe P1. As always you can expect a full review of the device with all our in-depth tests and analysis.

You can check the availability and price of Lenovo Vibe P1 here: http://amzn.to/1GYqieC

As we already mentioned Vibe P1 is a high-end device and it’s positioned somewhere between the mid and high class. One of the most impressive things we see in its specs sheet is the huge 5000 mAh battery and we are having quite high expectations of the battery life. Moreover, just as the mini version of the phone, we see special power saving mode here as well. It highly resembles that of Samsung’s Ultra power saving mode as it turns the background dark and limits the device’s functionalities to its basic ones allowing only a few apps for phone calls, messages, etc. Anyway, you have the option to add other apps like radio, calendar or calculator available. Lenovo has added a dedicated physical button on the left side of the phone with which you can turn the power saving mode on or off.

As far as Vibe P1’s design goes, we could say that it looks a lot like HTC’s One M series. The phone has a metallic, metal body with a slightly protruding back and plastic parts at the top and bottom. The top one is removable and underneath it is the microSD card slot that supports up to 128GB and the SIM card drawer containing two Nano-SIM card slots. Anyway, considering the large 5.5-inch screen and large battery, it is perfectly normal to see a bulkier body. Even though the device measures at 9.9 mm thickness and weighs 189 g, it still feels and looks great thanks to its aluminum construction.

Vibe P1 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Lenovo’s UI on top bringing a large variety of features and pre-installed apps. You can take advantage of the Micro Screen function that makes the device easier and more comfortable to use with one hand, Wide touch – a virtual button granting you quick access to various apps, and many others that we’re going to take a closer look in our upcoming review. In the settings menu, you’ll find a fingerprint scanner, which is integrated into the physical home button. If used correctly, it should be able to read your fingerprint quickly and easily. However, it only serves for unlocking the device.

The phone features a 13MP camera with double LED flash. In the camera settings, we didn’t find many shooting modes, but all of the standard manual settings like ISO, white balance, etc. are present. It is also capable of recording videos in Full HD resolution. The front-facing 5MP camera perfect for some casual selfies or video chats.

The SoC of the device is Snapdragon 615 and even though there aren’t any evidence of the phone reaching dangerously high outer temperatures we have some slight suspicions and we’re eager to perform our temperatures test to see if the user experience gets affected in any way after continuous usage.

What are the preinstalled apps in Vibe P1. Is there a music player installed? A friend of mine just bought it and he did not find the music player application installed in the phone.
