[Specs and Info] ASUS VivoBook 15 OLED (K513/M513) – a lot of hardware options

The VivoBook brand from ASUS is expanding, reaching into the premium notebook market, along with offering hardware that business people will love. The VivoBook 15 OLED brings a lot of stuff into one package, making the laptop excel at different tasks.

The slim chassis, powerful hardware, and amazing display make it appealing to many consumers and while the price tag will for sure be tough to swallow, we feel like it can be a best-seller among its competitors.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the ASUS VivoBook 15 OLED (K513/M513).

ASUS VivoBook 15 OLED (K513/M513): Full Specs

Design

The laptop comes with an aluminum lid and a plastic base. This shouldn’t be a problem, durability-wise, as nowadays you can make even a plastic laptop rigid and durable, just ask Lenovo. To be fair, ASUS’s own TUF Gaming laptops have been spectacular in that regard, which is a testament that good engineering can conquer every problem. The laptop is sleek, with minimal branding on the lid in the form of ASUS and VivoBook wordmarks. In terms of weight and height, the laptop stands at 1.80 kg and 18.6 mm, respectively.

Display

With the word OLED being featured in the name, we were excited from the start. There are two options, only one of which has an OLED panel. Both laptops have a 15.6-inch diagonal and a Full HD resolution, one of which uses an IPS panel, while the other has an OLED one. The latter option allegedly has 100% DCI-P3 coverage, along with VESA CERTIFIED Display HDR True Black 600, a max brightness of 600 nits, and a 0.2 second response time.

Specifications and features

Lastly, the specs offer lots of options for processors and graphics. There are both AMD and Intel CPUs. The Intel CPUs are from the Tiger Lake-U series, which consists of the Core i3-115G4, Core i3-1125G4, Core i5-1135G7, and the Core i7-1165G7. On the AMD end, we have the Zen 2-based Ryzen 5000U-series (Ryzen 3 5300U, Ryzen 5 5500U, and Ryzen 7 5700U), which don’t bring the improvements of the Zen 3 architecture, but are still very powerful and can compete with their Intel counterparts.

In terms of graphics, we have both integrated and discrete solutions. The integrated are the Iris Xe Graphics from Intel and the Radeon RX Vega units from AMD. The discrete options consist of the GeForce MX330 and the MX350.

The I/O is surprising, offering two USB 2.0 ports, which are fine for peripherals but are excruciatingly slow, in terms of file transfer speeds. There is one more USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port and a USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) port. The laptop also has a MicroSD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. There are optional features, such as a fingerprint reader, and a backlit keyboard, while others such as the Harman/Kardon sound system come as standard.
