[Specs and Info] Lenovo ThinkBook 13S Gen 4 (AMD) – we are very excited

The Ryzen 6000U-series will for sure be a game changer in the laptop market, eliminating the need for a discrete GPU in many thin office devices. The new series of processors come with new RDNA2 integrated graphics, which are believed to be a big step up from the old Vega Graphics that we’ve been stuck with for a while.

And who better to implement them in a laptop than Lenovo, a company that deserves its top spot in the market. With its ThinkBook 13S Gen 4 (AMD), it finds a portable chassis that can act as a fantastic testing ground for these CPUs, to see what level of performance can be extracted inside a small enclosed space with limited cooling capacity, in a sort of worst case scenario.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the Lenovo ThinkBook 13S Gen 4 (AMD).

Lenovo ThinkBook 13S Gen 4 (AMD): Full Specs

Design

What you’re getting with the ThinkBook 13S is a fully aluminum body with a rounded backside, while the front is sharper and more angular. The edges are sharp as well, while the corners are rounded as well. The lid has a two-tone horizontal finish, but contrasting other ThinkBooks, this one uses lighter colors. In terms of dimensions, the device weighs only 1.23 kg and has a profile of 14.9 mm.

Display

There are two display options with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The base configuration uses a FHD+ IPS panel with a 300 nit peak brightness, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and 100% sRGB coverage. The second option ups the resolution to QHD+ and the contrast ratio to 1500:1. Both should be pretty good for content creation.

Specifications and features

And the specs inside will absolutely allow you to tackle Creator tasks, as both the Ryzen 5 6600U and the Ryzen 7 6800U, bring decently high core counts and high boost clock speeds. The laptop comes with a 56Wh battery pack, which is pretty good for a 13-inch form factor and should deliver decent numbers in terms of battery life. We are most excited about the RDNA 2 graphics, which can enable decent gaming to be done on even thin and light office devices like this one, with not only esports titles, but maybe even some triple-A titles at modest settings.

The I/O also manages to embarrass most MacBooks out there, with one USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port, one USB Type-C 4.0 port, an HDMI 2.1 port, which outputs up to an 8K 60Hz signal, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
