MSI Cyborg 15 (A12Vx / A13Ux / A13Vx): Full Specs

Design

The laptop is supposedly made entirely from plastic since MSI doesn’t advertise any metal. The design of the Cyborg features some transparent elements, which ASUS previously did with its Strix SCAR laptops. These are found on the back part of the lid, the sides, as well as the bottom panel. The latter also features large cutouts which spell out “MSI TRUE GAMING”. The cutouts also act as heat vents, improving the airflow. The design uses sharp edges and diamond-cut corners. There’s a fairly big notch on the lid, which houses an HD webcam. It should also help with opening the laptop. In terms of portability, the Cyborg 15 comes in at just 1.98 kg, with a profile of 22.9 mm.

The transparency spans to the keyboard as well, with some parts of it being see-through, which works even better with the backlight. The keycaps also have some detailing, including the arrow keys, power button, WASD keys, and spacebar.

Display

With a Full HD 144Hz IPS panel you can have a pleasant gaming experience. In terms of being able to use the device for design or color work, most of MSI’s 144Hz Full HD options haven’t been up to the task, covering about half of the sRGB gamut. Of course, this can all change, and we hope it does, but overall you should look elsewhere if you need a portable hybrid for both gaming and Creator work.

Specifications and features

You get three CPU options, all from Intel. There are two Alder Lake options, the Core i5-12450H, and the Core i7-12650H, with 8 and 10 cores, and 12 and 16 threads, respectively. Raptor Lake is represented by the Core i7-13620H, also with 10 cores and 16 threads. In terms of graphics, the base configuration comes with the RTX 3050, which has been updated for 2023, with a higher CUDA core count, matching the RTX 3050 Ti, and 6GB of GDDR6 memory. If you want a taste of the new ADA 40-series GPUs, you can pick between the RTX 4050, with a 45W power limit, and the RTX 4060.

The port selection includes two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, one on the left and one on the right, as well as a USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) port with DisplayPort connectivity. Other ports include an HDMI 2.0 port, a LAN port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. With this coverage, you can connect up to 2 other displays, giving you a lot of working room if you’re a productivity freak.
