[Specs and Info] MSI Raider GE67 (12Ux) and Raider GE77 (12Ux) – 175W GPU is all you need to hear

MSI has outdone themselves. They have always been one of the manufacturers to always push the limit of GPU performance and wattage, but this year, they are going all out, in order to deliver the best possible laptop for both gaming and content creation. While their 2021 GE Raider series already got the Alder Lake upgrade, now they release their GE67 and GE77 Raider notebooks, which feature some design and chassis changes, display configuration tweaks, and more importantly, up to a 175W RTX 3080 Ti.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the MSI Raider GE67 (12Ux) and Raider GE77 (12Ux).

Design

The new design of the Raider laptops includes even more gamer-y touches, including RGB. The chassis retains the same shape and materials, but the lid has an additional large vertical MSI inscription on the right side, while the chassis’ Dynaudio and SteelSeries logos are now transparent, allowing for the RGB below the keyboard to illuminate them too.

The bottom panel is sculpted, which should improve the cooling, allowing for more air to enter the system. The MSI touches keep going, with the same panel featuring a red plaque with the name of the laptop.

WeightHeight
MSI Raider GE67 (12Ux)2.38 kg (5.2 lbs)23.4 mm
MSI Raider GE77 (12Ux)2.90 kg (6.4 lbs)25.9 mm

Display

The 15.6-inch laptop has a single display option with a QHD OLED panel that has a high 240Hz refresh rate. Honestly, you need nothing more, as you’ll both get fantastic colors and a high enough refresh rate for competitive gaming. The 17.3-inch laptop has a similar panel with the same resolution and refresh rate, but with an IPS panel. It also has an FHD display with a 360Hz refresh rate, along with a 4K UHD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The OLED panel of the Raider GE67 has a 600 nit peak brightness, a very quick 0.2 ms response time, and proprietary MSI True Color technology.

Specifications and features

The laptops have similar hardware, however, there are some significant improvements, in the GPU section, which you’ve probably already seen in the title. The new laptops get more powerful processors, with up to the Core i9-12900HX. For the graphics, you can choose between the regular RTX 3080, a 150W RTX 3070 Ti, or a 175W RTX 3080 Ti, which is around half of the desktop version, which can draw up to 350W.

To keep up with the heat that these laptops will generate, we have the CoolerBoost 5 setup, which has 7 heat pipes and two fans. The CPU and GPU are also covered by a Phase Change Thermal Pad, which softens up when heated, reducing irregularities and filling all the gaps between the heat spreader and the chip, allowing for the best possible heat dissipation.
