[Specs and Info] The HP OMEN 16 (16-c0000) brings a larger 16.1-inch screen to the gaming market

HP has really found its footing with the OMEN brand of gaming devices. We really like them now, and while there are a few things to be worked out, mainly with the hardware, they are very close to creating an unbeatable combination of design, build quality, and performance.

Today we have the new OMEN 16, which gives you a bigger display at a decent price. 16-inch gaming devices were something that started popping up more often after the Legion 7 (16″). All in all, the more variety, the better for the consumer. The laptop also brings full AMD support, bringing not only Zen 3 but RDNA 2 into the mix as well, while also offering the RTX Ampere units.

Today we are giving you a quick overview of the HP OMEN 16 (16-c0000).

HP OMEN 16 (16-c0000): Full Specs

Design

The laptop bears resemblance to all other OMEN laptops. This means an aluminum body with an anodized finish, which feels really good, along with a plastic lid. We are basing this information on the already available OMEN 15 2021, but HP might be willing to give this one an aluminum unibody, which would be great. Regardless if that happens or not, you’ll be getting a structurally sound machine, with a boxy design and an OMEN jewel on the lid, which looks fantastic. In terms of weight and height, the laptop stands at 2.30 kg and 22.60 mm, respectively.

Display

The device comes with two 16.1-inch FHD IPS panels with either a 60Hz or a 144Hz refresh rate and either 250 or 300 nit max brightness. There is also a QHD panel that has a 165Hz refresh rate, a 300 nit max brightness, and 100% sRGB coverage.

 Specifications and features

The laptop offers the whole Ryzen 5000H-series range, which goes up to the Ryzen 9 5900HX. For the graphics, you get the GTX 1650 and the RTX Ampere GPUs, starting with the RTX 3050 and going as far as the RTX 3070. The real kicker is that HP also promises RDNA 2 graphics down the line. For now, the available GPUs are unknown, but it will for sure be good to have some competition with NVIDIA.

Features-wise, you get ample I/O coverage, a backlit keyboard, and stereo speakers from Bang & Olufsen, which also have DTS:X Ultra Audio support, which allows sound designers to alter the qualities of audio such as location, movement, size, focus, and more.
