While not possessing the premium features and qualities of its bigger brother, the Tab S7,  Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 (2020) still has the same attention to detail and craftsmanship that Samsung devices are known for. Coming with a powerful mid-range SoC and a beautiful display, this a great tablet that can satisfy the needs of nearly everyone, unless you’re a heavy user, for which, you’ll need something better.

3 reasons to BUY the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 (2020)

1. The Build quality

To begin on the outside of the tablet, the build quality here is quite good. Aluminum is used for the body, making it sturdy enough to endure the daily abuse that a device goes through. The camera is located in the upper left corner and has a small bump. Moving over to the front, the bezels aren’t the thinnest, but we believe this actually helps, in terms of eliminating the risk of accidental touches on the display, which can happen fairly often with thin-bezel tablets.

2. The Display

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 (2020) has a 10.4-inch touchscreen IPS display with a resolution of 2000×1200 pixels and has an aspect ratio of 5:3. Furthermore, the panel has comfortable viewing angles, a very good contrast ratio, and doesn’t use PWM to adjust its brightness. What is more, is that it covers 93% of the sRGB color gamut. Its colors aren’t accurate, however, with an average dE value of 5.7.

3. The Speakers

What is better than we expected on the Galaxy Tab A7 is the speaker setup. Samsung has implemented a quad-speaker setup, which produces clear and rich audio. Moreover, the speakers are clear of deviations across the entire frequency range.

2 reason NOT to buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 (2020)

1. The Design

While the build quality is on point, the design is quite boring and unimpressive. Maybe if they offered the device with a bigger variety of colors or if they had implemented something interesting about the back portion of the tablet, it could have been an eye-catcher visually, and a great deal overall, when specs and price are concerned. However, Samsung has decided to play it safe here and instead offer a boring looking device, that surprises you with its quality once you start using it.

2. The Performance

CPU

One key part of a tablet being good to use is the performance. This Tab A7 uses the Snapdragon 662 SoC, which has 4 performance cores clocked at 2.00GHz and 4 power-efficiency cores running at 1.80GHz. However, it lacks the punch of the far more capable 800-series Snapdragon SoCs found on the more expensive models.

GPU

As for the graphics chip onboard the 662, we have the Adreno 610, which brings an LPDDR4 memory controller and support for Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5, and LTE. Nevertheless, you can see the performance difference in gaming, compared to the Galaxy Tab S7 in the following table.
