Acer Aspire V15 (V3-574) struggles with battery life

Aspire_V15_V3-574-batteryAcer Aspire V15 (V3-574) comes with some great internals and while it certainly is not a “Nitro” monster it still packs a punch. The configuration we have comes with an ultra-low voltage Intel Core i5-5200U, 8GB LPDDR3L RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 940M and a 15.6” screen with multitouch Full HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) IPS panel, which can be very power hungry. The battery that has to power all these internals is disappointingly small – 4-cell, 37Wh (2142 mAh) and it won’t allow you to keep your notebook away from the charger for too long.

In our web browsing test the result we got is just 194 minutes or 3 hours and 14 minutes. The video playback result is over an hour better, but still could be better – 260 minutes (4 hours and 20 minutes). Gaming usually takes a bigger toll on the battery with the power hungry GeForce 940M GPU rated at 33W TDP – the result we got is 61 minutes.
