AMD will announce RX 500 in April, Vega graphics coming late May/early June

AMD Radeon graphics cards from the RX 500 series will be released in the beginning of April while those of the RX Vega family between May 30th and June 3rd.

The fastest models of the first aforementioned series will be the graphics chips based on Polaris 10 XT and Polaris 10 which are found in the older generations RX 480 and RX 470 graphics cards. AMD claims that the RX 580 and RX 570 will be around 10% better in terms of performance and their release date will be April 4th. Further down the line, we can find the RX 560 and RX 550. Just like their “older” brothers they will be based on the older generation graphics chips but with increased clock speeds. We have information that the Lenovo Y520 will be the first notebook to feature a Radeon RX 500 graphics card and that will be the RX 560M.

On the other hand, the RX Vega lineup will feature the brand new Vega 10 and Vega 11 graphics processors. Vega 10 will be the company’s flagship and will rival the GeForce 1080. AMD claims that it will be powerful enough to beat its NVIDIA opponent by 10%. The Vega 10 chip will consist of 64 compute units with 64 stream processors each – a total of 4096. The chip is based on the 2048-bit interface. Vega’s video memory will have a capacity of 8GB and it will be HBM2 type.

Devices with the smaller chip will be mid-range but unfortunately there is no available information about the specs for now. Vega 11 cards  are expected to probably compete versus the GTX 1070 or GTX 1060.
