GeForce GTX 970 is the most used GPU according to Steam

August was one of the loveliest months. It was namely then that one of the big gaming events of the year took place – Gamescom – we saw new trailers of Battlefield 1, Mafia 3 and many others. Furthermore, we also saw games that can easily be enjoyed for hours. Even though No Man’s Sky did not turn out as what we expected, the last days of August saw the release of the latest expansion for “the father of MMORPG games” World of Warcraft – called World of Warcraft: Legion.

Now that August is behind us, it’s time to have a look at the weekly Steam statistics. According to the research of the largest gaming platform, 47% of the users are using Windows 10, while only 28% – Windows 7. The competitive OS Linux and Mac are installed on nearly 4% of the devices using Steam, while more than 95% of the users are enjoying Microsoft’s OS.

Another interesting fact is that the most used GPU (according to Steam) is GeForce GTX 970. Although the GeForce GTX 1080 and 1070 GPUs, which were released a couple of months ago, are available, the abovementioned GPU is still preferred by gamers. It turns out that Steam users mostly own graphics cards with only 1GB of own memory – an intriguing statistics, considering the needs of newer games. There are no drastic changes in the remaining categories – the most common res is Full HD, RAM – 8 GB, and the most popular VR Headsets remain HTC Vive.
