Intel 13th Gen Laptop processors are now a reality – Going as high as 24 cores and 32 threads

Even though CES hasn’t even started, a lot of major brands have already announced stuff, with Intel leading the charge. Their 13th Gen Raptor Lake processors for laptops have now been revealed, so we get to see what the second generation of Hybrid processors has to bring to the table.

Once again, we see a division into four segments, with U-series, P-series, H-series, and HX-series, so all form factors are covered, from enthusiast gaming and workstation laptops to thin & light business devices.

First is the HX series, which offers a lot of SKUs. We see an increase in wattage with a 55W base and 157W at max. Also, the top dog Core i9-13980HX now comes with 24 cores and 32 threads. Overall, the whole 13th Gen seems to include a lot more cores than the 12th Gen.

Next is the H-series, which also has a lot of chips. These are the more mainstream options, which you’ll find in almost any gaming or Creator laptop that’ll come out in 2023. With a more manageable 45W base TDP and a lower Turbo TDP of 115W, you still have plenty of room to play with and a lot of performance to squeeze out of these CPUs.

The standout of last year, the P-series, comes with 4 CPUs total, however, we do expect to see more chips in the coming months. These processors were amazing in 2022, making smaller laptops perform on par or better than larger devices from previous generations.

Lastly, the U-series doesn’t get an increase in cores, however, the boost and base speeds have been increased. The CPUs also support faster RAM, with up to 6400MHz LPDDR5 memory.
