Specs overview
We start off with Intel Core i7-8705G which is based on the Kaby Lake G architecture (8th gen) featuring a total of 4 cores and 8 threads. In addition, manufactured through a 14 nm process, the chip operates at 3.10 GHz base frequency and a maximum speed of 4.10 GHz. The specs sheet is complemented by 8MB last level cache, a dual-channel memory controller supporting DDR3L-1600 or DDR4-2400 and a TDP of 65 W. As for the iGPU, here you are presented with AMD Radeon RX Vega M GL (Vega 870, 4GB HBM2) clocked at 931- 1011 MHz.
Now let’s cover the specs sheet of its opponent briefly. Intel Core i7-8650U is part of the 8th Generation (Kaby Lake Refresh) and features 4 instead of 8 cores and 8 threads. Additionally, the base frequencies go up to 1.90 GHz, while the turbo speed can reach up to 4.20 GHz. Other specs include support for dual-channel DDR4-2400/ LPDDR3-2133 memory, 8MB last level cache, 14nm FinFET manufacturing process, as well as TDP of 15W. When it comes to iGPU, you are presented with Intel UHD Graphics 620 clocked at 300-1050 MHz.
