[Comparison] AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS vs Intel Core i5-12500H – The Core i5 keeps winning

The Core i5-12500H was undoubtedly the best CPU for affordable gaming or content creation for 2022 and while we’re waiting for Intel’s Raptor Lake processors to hit the market in early February, it will still be our recommendation for a well-performing and inexpensive processor.

However, we’ve also come in contact with AMD’s new Ryzen 7 7735HS processor, which has a lower TDP and would be a great fit inside a more portable machine. Can the new Ryzen 7 compete with the Core i5, which was a master at defeating nearly all of AMD’s arsenal?

Today we’re here to find that out as we compare the Ryzen 7 7735HS against the Intel Core i5-12500H.

Conclusion

The Core i5 continues to be a standout CPU and we’ll keep recommending it, especially since pricing is expected to go down on it with the eventual flood that Raptor Lake will cause. If we’re to take the iGPUs into consideration, then yes, the AMD processor is a more balanced option. However, most laptops that will offer either the Ryzen 7 or the Core i5 will likely carry discrete graphics as well, so they become even less of a factor.
