[Comparison] HP EliteBook Dragonfly G3 vs Dragonfly G2 – what are the differences?

The Dragonfly notebook from HP is already very impressive, coming with an elegant exterior and very capable hardware on the inside. Somehow, HP thought that a makeover was due, and we got first glimpses at CES 2022.

The device now sports an even slimmer and simpler outer construction, while also swapping its displays for the more productivity-focused 3:2 aspect ratio. Today we are comparing the new EliteBook Dragonfly G3 against the Dragonfly G2 to see what are the differences.

The new laptop has a very chill and laidback approach to the design. With its softened corners and edges, it really looks elegant. Interestingly though, it keeps the same weight.

Moving over to the display selection, we now have 3:2 displays, instead of the usual 16:9. That means a 13.2-inch FHD+ display instead of a 13.3-inch FHD display. It also now has an OLED offering, coming with a resolution of 3000 x 2000p, which replaces the 4K UHD display on the Dragonfly G2.

Hardware-wise, the Tiger Lake U-series CPUs are swapped for Alder Lake P-series units. The new chips have a higher 28W TDP, along with a mix of Performance and Efficiency cores, which offer the best of both worlds. For graphics, we have the integrated Iris Xe Graphics G7. Since the Dragonfly G3 doesn’t bring a Core i3 CPU into the lineup, we don’t have the Xe Graphics G4.
