[Comparison] Intel Core i7-1165G7 vs Intel Core i7-10710U – The i7-10710U wins a very close battle by 13% in Cinebench and 2% in Photoshop

Intel’s new Tiger Lake architecture provided much-needed improvements, in terms of both CPU performance and GPU performance. Let’s see how much of an improvement is Tiger Lake actually is. To find that out we will be comparing the Intel Core i7-1165G7 against the Intel Core i7-10710U.

CPU benchmark

In a surprising fashion the Intel Core i7-10710U won in both tests. In the 3D Rendering test with Cinebench 15, it had a 13% lead and in 2D Rendering, in Photoshop it won by 2% or 0.2 seconds. It’s certainly strange to see an older CPU win, but you’d have to take into consideration the higher core and thread count, and the higher boost clock.

Conclusion

Strangely the Intel Core i7-10710U scored wins in both of our tests. With a 13% edge in Cinebench and a 2% in Photoshop, it claims the win in this comparison. We believe that the higher core count coupled with the higher boost clock speed contributed the most to this being in favor of the Core i7-10710U. However, keep in mind that the Core i7-1165G7 has a tremendously better iGPU, which might well balance out the results of this comparison.
