Intel Core i5-11300H vs Core i5-10300H – the i5-11300H is the clear winner

The Intel Core i5-11300H is one of the freshest CPUs on the market right now and it’ll be good to see how it stacks against some other competitors from the previous-gen CPUs. In 2020 we saw the debut of the Core i5-10300H. It’s still a decent processor that looks a bit old right now with its outdated 14nm tech process. This CPU is part of the Comet Lake-H generation which means that it’s (almost) the good old Coffee Lake.

When you look at the specs you’re going to notice that these two processors are kind of similar when it comes to numbers and digits. They both have 4 cores and 8 threads, the cache size is identical – 8MB, and when it comes to clocks the Core i5-11300H is a bit ahead of its rival – 3.10GHz – 4.40GHz vs 2.5GHz – 4.5GHz. The Core i5-11300H (which is a Tiger Lake H35 chip) has better memory support DDR4-3200, LPDDR4x-4267 while the Core i5-10300H is a bit shy with its DDR4-2933.

The TDP levels of the new CPU are 10W lower compared to the Core i5-10300H and in addition, the Core i5-11300H comes with a faster iGPU – Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 (80EU) while the Core i5-10300H relies on the Intel UHD Graphics 630.

CPU benchmarks

It’s good to see that the Core i5-11300H is 31% faster when it comes to 3D rendering.

GPU benchmarks

No surprises here, it was clear like day and night that the Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 (80EU) is way faster compared to the UHD Graphics 630.

Results are from the 3DMark: Fire Strike (Graphics) benchmark (higher the score, the better)

Conclusion

So, let’s have a look at the prices. The Core i5-11300H costs $309.00 and the Core i5-10300H is listed for $250.00. This means that the new chip is 24% more expensive. When we put the performance numbers on the table, the Core i5-11300H is 31% faster when it comes to computing power and its iGPU is 3 times faster compared to the UHD 630. And its 24% higher price sounds like a fair deal if AMD didn’t exist.

This leads us to the fact where the AMD Ryzen 5 5600H is a better buy compared to the Core i5-11300H – the AMD CPU has more power and faster iGPU. If your budget is tight, the Ryzen 5 4600H should be on your shortlist as well.
