Inside Lenovo Legion Y7000 (2019) – disassembly and upgrade options

Lenovo Legion Y7000 of 2019 looks like a pure copy to the Legion Y540. In fact, we have a dedicated article on this topic, which you can read HERE. Nevertheless, let’s see what we found inside the Legion Y7000 (2019) and whether it is a good buy or not.

1. Remove the bottom plate

Legion Y7000 (2019)’s back panel is held in place with 11 Phillips-head screws. After you unscrew them you need to do some prying acrobatics, since Lenovo did a very good job of hiding some of the clips beneath the additional plastic panel.

2. Battery

After you are inside the machine, it would be a good thing to remove the battery connector. This device is equipped with a 57Wh unit, which is not the biggest, but yet, who buys a gaming laptop to use it away from the plug (or that’s what we imagine a Lenovo employee would say if asked about the battery).

3. Memory and storage

In terms of upgradability, this laptop rocks. It has two RAM DIMMs, which are hidden beneath a protective metal bracket. They support up to 32GB of DDR4 memory. At the same time, there is an M.2 slot that supports PCIe x4 drives, and a “regular” 2.5″ SATA drive slot.

4. Cooling system

In terms of cooling, this laptop has two relatively big metal plates above either of the chips. Then, there is a single heat pipe that cools both the CPU and the GPU and one more for each of the two.

hi, laptopmedia , sir may i ask, if i remove the battery will the laptop stil work?
My plan since the 10 yrs ago when ever i bought a laptop i always remove the battery…then i will someday resell it., then thats the time i will put the battery, and i can sales talk to others that the laptop is semi brandnew since the battery life has/had never been use.. ^_^
