The laptop brings great upgradeability, offering two SODIMM slots that can fit up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM, along with two M.2 PCIe x4 slots for storage expansion.

2. Display quality
You get to choose between four displays, with three Full HD IPS panels with either 60Hz, 120Hz, or 165Hz refresh rate along with a single QHD panel with a 165Hz refresh rate, which would go great with the higher powered hardware options. Our laptop used the 165Hz FHD option, which brought excellent viewing angles, a max brightness of 279 nits in the middle of the screen and 266 nits as an average for the whole area, with a maximum deviation of 23%, with the bottom left corner being way out of line when it comes to brightness uniformity, which affects its ability to be used for color-sensitive work. The contrast ratio is decent – 1190:1.
In terms of color coverage, the laptop covers 97% of the sRGB color gamut.
The color accuracy is good even without our Design and Gaming profile, with a dE value of 1.7. Applying our profile makes it even better, lowering it to 0.7.

The I/O is decently rich, and while it does lack an SD card reader of any kind, you still get a total of four USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI connector, an Ethernet connector, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
4. Input devices
As we have said before, the Legion 5 has the best gaming keyboard of any laptop. It comes with either a White, Blue, or RGB backlight, along with very long key travel and clicky feedback. The base is sturdy enough to resist harsh typing, while the keycaps are well-sized, including the Arrow keys, which are spaced out from the rest of the keys, eliminating the chance of accidental presses. The touchpad is smooth with its Mylar surface and has good accuracy.

1. Battery life
The battery unit has a size of either 60Wh or 80Wh. We tested the 60Wh version, and it didn’t perform as well as we would have liked. The laptop lasted for 3 hours and 27 minutes of Web browsing, and 4 hours and 10 minutes of video playback. When you compare it to the AMD version, you get a much lower battery life, which might be evidence to show the power efficiency of the Zen 3 processors.
In order to simulate real-life conditions, we used our own script for automatic web browsing through over 70 websites.
