日本[Specs and Info] GIGABYTE AERO 5 (Intel 12th Gen) – beautiful screen and tons of power
GIGABYTE has been a bit of a wildcard in the laptop space. They offer very powerful laptops, however, their designs and brand recognition are lacking, which results in poor sales. Still, they keep going on and releasing laptops, which means that they are committed to becoming a bigger player in the scene.
Today we have the AERO 5, which is a Creator laptop that does however bring hardware that is very capable for gaming as well. This makes the device very versatile but also places it among other similar devices, as the competition in the Gaming/Creator space is becoming heavier by the minute.

Design
GIGABYTE states that they were influenced by aerodynamic vehicles and hypercars when they were designing the AERO 5. With such a blocky design, we don’t really see it, but aero works in mysterious ways, with some of the most aerodynamic cars being old Mercedes sedans that look like rectangular boxes on wheels. The lid and base both have rounded corners and sharp edges, with the lid also featuring a small AERO logo in the middle. The back and the sides also have a total of four vents, in order to circulate air properly. For a 15.6-inch laptop, it is decently portable, weighing 2.30 kg and having a profile of 23.6 mm.
Display
GIGABYTE has gone all out with this display. For a 15.6-inch form factor, they have stuffed a 4K UHD display with a Samsung AMOLED panel. The thing comes with a max brightness of 440 nits and an infinite contrast ratio. To go into details, the panel also has 100% DCI-P3 coverage and factory calibrated accuracy with a dE value of <1. Working long hours also won’t be damaging to your eyes, with the screen coming with reduced blue light emissions. The display is also quite fast, offering a 0.2ms response time. As you can see from the image below, the bezels are incredibly thin, measuring 3mm.
Specifications and features
With a Core i7-12700H, which brings 6 Performance cores and 8 Efficiency cores, you’ll get the best of both worlds when it comes to both performance and power efficiency. This is because most of the time when you’re doing simple tasks, the efficiency cores handle most of the work. Only when more resources are needed, do the rest of the cores start working.
The laptop offers two GPUs, the RTX 3060 and the RTX 3070 Ti. The former will do just fine for productivity and a little bit of gaming, however, at 4K, you will have to apply lower settings depending on the game. The 3070 Ti will perform much better in 4K and offer better productivity performance, as the GPU packs much more CUDA cores.
Keeping the CPU and GPU in check is the Windforce Infinity cooling solution, which has two fans with each sporting 83 blades, 5 heat pipes, which allows the laptop to operate to a TDP of up to 160W (45W CPU + 115W GPU).
In terms of features, the laptop comes with a large 99Wh battery unit, which should be fine, however, keep in mind that the screen will draw a lot of power, as it pushes four times the number of pixels that an FHD panel has. The I/O is also pretty well populated, with a total of three USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, a Thunderbolt 4 port, an SD card reader, a 3.5 mm audio jack, an HDMI 2.1 port, a Mini DisplayPort, and an RJ-45 port.
The keyboard comes with a white backlight, with the per-key RGB option being gone, with GIGABYTE stating that their userbase found it distracting. The keycaps are laser-engraved, allowing the white light to pass clearly.
