[Specs, Info, and Prices] Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go – a well-rounded Chromebook

Everybody is getting in on the Chromebook game, as the potential is there and the market is growing. Not everyone has the $$$ to spend on more expensive devices and to be fair, not everyone needs to. With today’s state of the internet, you can pretty much do everything on the cloud, reducing the need for powerful hardware.

Chromebooks present a very good alternative for most consumers, being able to browse the web effortlessly while offering stable and reliable performance from a very low-resource OS. This allows the prices to be affordable, relying on less powerful chips, which would bog down the overall experience if they were powering a Windows laptop.

Today we have Samsung’s approach to a Chromebook with the Galaxy Chromebook Go.

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go is available now with a starting price of $349.99.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go: Full Specs

Design

This is one of the better-looking Chromebooks. While it still sports the boring Silver exterior, the metal lid and chassis make it feel a lot more expensive than it actually is. This is further helped by the sharp edges and rounded corners. On the other hand, the base and bezels are covered in black. The lid has small Samsung and Chromebook logos. It also has 180-degrees of rotation, allowing for full-flat positioning. In terms of weight and height, this is a very portable laptop, weighing 1.45 kg and having a profile of 16 mm.

Display

In terms of displays, we have a single option, with a 14-inch diagonal and a resolution of 1366 x 768p. It also uses a TN panel, which is a questionable decision, since IPS units are readily available, and wouldn’t really increase the price of the device.

Specifications and features

Specs-wise, we have only one CPU option. The Intel Celeron N4500 comes with two cores and a boost speed of 2.80GHz. It is also very power efficient with a TDP of just 6W. It’s clearly a low-end chip, but you don’t really need more for ChromeOS. The 4GB of RAM that the notebook has should suffice for multiple Chrome tabs, while the integrated Jasper Lake graphics with only 16 Execution Units are pretty much limited to media consumption.

The device also has decent I/O coverage with one USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, two USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, a MicroSD card reader, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
