4 reasons to buy ASUS ZenBook UX430

1. One of the best displays on the market (+ colors with almost no deviation from the standards)

We are pleased to confirm that ASUS ZenBook UX430 boasts one of the best displays we have tested so far. It offers almost 100% sRGB color gamut coverage, the panel is super bright and sharp thanks to the maximum brightness of 358 nits and an excellent contrast ratio of 1290:1 respectively. Moreover, thanks to our custom profiles which significantly improve the color accuracy of the screen, giving an average deviation of dE 0.6 (under 2.0 is appropriate for work with colors) you are able to use ZenBook UX430 for color sensitive work.

2. Amazing battery life

The 50Wh 3-cell battery unit astounds us with the runtimes it scored in our tests. You can squeeze up to 13 hours and 20 minutes of web browsing on a single charge, and up to 7 hours and 4 minutes of video playback time (the “culprit” for the lower result is the relatively power-hungry GeForce MX150 GPU).

In order to simulate real-life conditions, we used our own script for automatic web browsing through over 70 websites.

For every test like this, we use the same video in HD.

We use F1 2017’s built-in benchmark on loop in order to simulate real-life gaming.

3. Good keyboard with backlight

On the inside of the notebook, you will find a very tactile keyboard which is also backlit ensuring comfortable use even in dark environments.

4. Fast CPU and GPU combination

In terms of hardware, the ASUS ZenBook UX430 relies on the combination between the ultra-low voltage 8th gen Intel Core i7-8550U and the entry-level mobile NVIDIA GeForce MX150 which provides a reasonable performance boost for all your business-oriented tasks.

1 reason NOT to buy ASUS ZenBook UX430

1. The GeForce MX150 throttles aggressively at very high loads

The only major drawback of the device lies in the cooling design. It is incapable of keeping the GPU within normal temperatures. During our extreme stress tests, the graphics chip abruptly heated up to 74°C which was followed by aggressive throttling. In the 4th minute, the frequencies went down from 1400 MHz to under 400 MHz for some time. After a while, the clock speeds increased and remained at 1300 MHz and just 2 minutes before we stopped the FurMark test, the MX150 started to thermal throttle aggressively, even going down to 200 MHz on some occasions.
