Hands-on the Lenovo P70 – powerful processor, superb battery life and great design
Lenovo P70 is a phone with great specs for a great price. We think that it’s a very interesting device and you can expect its detailed review soon. There, we will cover capabilities and problems, which some of you shared with us, but for now we can share our first impressions of the phone.
Battery
Let’s start our hands on review with the battery. Its capacity is 4000 mAh, which sounds very promising. We can say nothing about its life before we test it. You can find detailed information about all battery life results in our upcoming review, but we can share some of them with you now. For example, Lenovo P70 managed to stay on for 681 minutes, which is a great result. In our 3D gaming test, the device endured for 357 minutes, which is even intriguing.
Processor
The CPU has 8 cores, which does not necessarily mean that it’s the most powerful CPU ever, but in our case the performance is satisfactory. The benchmark results are superb and you can also add smooth operation to the equation. The chip’s name is MediaTek MT6752 and includes 2GB of RAM and a Mali-T760 GPU, which you can also find in Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
Screen
The screen offers HD resolution and this isn’t new for a mid-range phone and many people think that this is sufficient for good visibility. There is IPS technology, and this amounts to great colors and viewing angles. You can find more information about the screen flickering, its maximum level of brightness and color reproduction in our upcoming review.
Camera
The main camera has a 13 MP sensor with auto focus and LED flash. You can see some sample photos, which we took with Lenovo P70. Of course, that’s not all, we want to show you, and due to this, we tested it even further. At the front, you’ll find a 5MP camera. It’s not bad if you like selfies.
Design
We measured a thickness of 9.1 mm. which makes the phone relatively thin for the middle class and extremely thin for a phone with a 4000 mAh battery. The whole chassis is built out of plastic, but it looks premium. When you remove the back cover, you can see the big battery and two micro SIM slots. Above them, there is a slot for a microSD memory card.
Software
Lenovo P70 runs the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, but with the aid of an interface which is very useful, the software is one of the device’s key features. It has many capabilities – you can unlock the screen with a double knock (just like some LG phones) and if you want to lock the screen you can shake the phone in one direction. Also, there are some pre-installed apps and a folder with a few games.
