HP Pavilion 15 (2016) (FHD, touch IPS) display profiles – Quality and Health impact results

hp-pavilion-15-970-80HP’s new Pavilion 15, more precisely the model with Full HD IPS touch panel, doesn’t really excel in image quality but it’s good enough for general multimedia and gaming. Half of the sRGB colors are missing, though. In the pack below, you will find the usual Health-Guard, Office work / Web design and Gaming / Movie Nights profiles, each of which will improve the overall image quality in certain aspects. You can read more about them here and how to use them. We also suggest reading our dedicated article regarding blue light emissions and PWM and how our custom profiles help eliminate both to certain extend.

The HP Pavilion 15 has a touch IPS panel with with narrow sRGB coverage, colder than usual color temperature and low maximum brightness. So in this case, our profiles will aid for better color accuracy, better visibility in darker areas of an image, correct the gamma and white point.

Since our profiles are tailored for each individual display model, this article and its respective profile package is meant for HP Pavilion 15 with 15.6″ LGD0519 (FHD, 1920 x 1080) touch IPS and the machine can be found at Amazon.com: HP Pavilion 15 (2016).

Office Work / Web Design

This profile aims to deliver the most accurate colors possible in the sRGB gamut – the colors used on the Web. That makes it suitable for Office work and, in some cases, for Web Design. However, this display doesn’t have the needed properties for color-sensitive work so we suggest looking for a laptop with a better IPS panel that has a wider sRGB coverage and more accurate colors out of the box. Anyway, we weren’t able to bring the average deltaE down from 5.3 but the the color correction allowed much lower maximum deltaE – 12 down from 16.

Along with the color adjustments, we were also able to tweak the white point and also made some corrections of the gamma curve.

Gaming and Movie Nights

You can take advantage of the Gaming and Movie Nights profile, which will improve the overall visibility – especially in darker areas of the image – during gaming and watching movies (you can see an example here).

Health-Guard profile

As for the Health-Guard profile, it reduces the blue light impact and eliminates PWM to some extent. Since the notebook is missing PWM above 40% brightness, this profile still comes in handy for reducing the blue light emissions.
