Top 5 reasons to BUY or NOT buy the Microsoft Surface Pro 7

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 is an interesting device with a lot of transforming abilities. No matter what your current needs are it’ll transform into the device that you want – laptop, tablet, or 2-in-1 device. At the same time, it boasts powerful hardware, a monitor with an extraordinary (but comfortable to work with) aspect ratio, an aluminum body, and a very thin profile. Unfortunately, there isn’t a keyboard in the retail package – you have to buy it separately. Apart from that, the machine is (almost) a superb gadget.

Today we are presenting to you our Top 5 picks about the Microsoft Surface Pro 7.

3 reasons to BUY the Microsoft Surface Pro 7

1. Ice Lake power

The device can be configured with powerful and efficient Ice Lake CPUs. That means less dissipated heat, lower power consumption, decent performance, and fast iGPUs like Intel Iris G7 / G4. The CPU and iGPU are additionally boosted by the fast and efficient LPDDR4X clocked at 3733 MHz. The 10nm processors contribute to the thin profile of this device – so much power is fitted in just 8.5mm.

2. Battery life

Another stong key-selling point of the device is battery life (once again, that is directly related to the efficient Ice Lake CPUs). We measured almost 9 hours of Web browsing and over 7 hours of watching videos which is a decent score.

3. The display

The touchscreen display (LG LP123WQ112604) has a 3:2 aspect ratio which is very comfortable for work or Web browsing (because of the added vertical screen space). The panel has good viewing angles, an excellent contrast ratio – 1290:1 (1170:1 after profiling), it covers 90% of the sRGB, and superb average dE value after profiling – thanks to our “Gaming and Web design” profile. The display uses PWM but its pulsations have a very high frequency which is safe-enough for long periods of work.

2 reasons not to BUY the Microsoft Surface Pro 7

1. Upgradability

Sadly, the device is not upgradable. The RAM is soldered and you can’t replace the SSD drive. Pitty but true.

1. The I/O

For such an expensive machine the ports selection is poor – a headphone jack, a USB Type-A port, and a USB Type-C port. That’s all.
