ASUS drops the price of GL553VE (GTX 1050 Ti) to $1144, Lenovo Y520 and Acer VX15 are still the most affordable models

Gaming notebooks are becoming more and more affordable with every passing day. If you have been reading our site regularly in the past month, you probably have noticed that we writing a new series of articles in which we compare different notebooks. Until now, we have compared some of the most popular and affordable gaming notebooks at the moment including the ASUS ROG Strix GL553VE, Lenovo Legion Y520 and Acer Aspire VX 15 (VX5-591G) which are part of our GTX 1050 Ti battles.

You can check out a few of our comparisons over here:

Now we have some interesting news about their prices. The Lenovo Y520 and Aspire VX 15 still remain two of the most affordable models with high-performance for the class but the ROG GL553VE which packs some great features gets a price cut which makes it even more tempting.

The ROG GL553VE is equipped with the same hardware as all the other aforementioned models and most of its class – Intel Core i7-7700HQ and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti but it also packs some outstanding features such as a high-quality display with 92% sRGB coverage and above average battery life. Of course, everything which is better than its competitors usually comes with a higher price tag and the ROG GL553VE is no exception in that matter. Its usual price is around $1299 which is about $200 more than most other budget gaming notebooks. However, ASUS has recently dropped its price by 12%, now selling for just $1144.89 for a configuration with 256 GB SSD and 1 TB HDD and 16 GB RAM. That $150 cut makes it an even fiercer competitor to the similarly priced Y520.

Still, other models with the same configuration cost less. Lenovo Legion Y520 which is one of the hottest budget gaming notebooks at the moment sells for as low as $1100, still almost $50 less than the GL553VE. It does not feature such a good screen but it is still a great option for less money.

And lastly, if you are really on a tight budget don’t give up there is something for everyone. After a $50 price cut, the Acer Aspire VX 15 can be bought for just $999 making it probably the cheapest Core i7/GTX 1050 Ti notebook on the market.
