Dell XPS 13 9310 receives the Tiger Lake treatment

Dell has decided to upgrade one of its more popular lineups – Dell XPS 13 9310, with the new Tiger Lake CPUs. This is Intel’s 11th generation of mobile processors based on the Willow Cove Core microarchitecture. What is more, these two new versions of the XPS 13 9310 did not only receive CPU upgrades but also superior connectivity by getting Thunderbolt 4.

Currently, there two versions of the XPS 13 9310 – standard and the developer edition. The developer version offered by Dell comes with a preinstalled version of Ubuntu.

In terms of specifications, there are not many substantial differences with last year’s model. Both devices have several panel options from FHD+ (1920×1200) all the way up to UHD+ (3840×2400). Both the FHD+ and the UHD+ panels have touchscreen versions and a peak brightness of 500 nits. Furthermore, both displays offer 100% sRGB coverage which is a big plus for those that require huge color accuracy.

The 2020 version of the XPS 13 9310 includes quite some CPU options – Core i3-1115G4, Core i5-1135G7, Core i7-1165G7, and the Core i7-1185G7. The device also supports RAM all the way up to 32GB LPDDR4X but the memory is soldered to the motherboard. Additionally, the options for storage start at 256GB and go all the way up to 2TB and the storage offered here is PCIe NVMe SSD.

For connectivity, the device comes with the brand new Thunderbolt 4. Also, the device has a microSD card reader, Bluetooth 5.1, Killer AX1650 Wi-Fi 6 chipset, and a 3.5mm audio jack, while the keyboard has a 1.0mm key travel. In terms of visuals, the device is offered in two different colors – black carbon and silver. The thermal design has not been changed a lot since last year’s which is understandable considering that last year’s design was performing very well.

Overall, we are happy to see that the Dell XPS 13 9310 receives an upgrade. The device has great promise and we are excited to see how it performs with our tests.
