[Comparison] AMD Ryzen 3 5300U vs AMD Ryzen 5 5500U – A fight between two brothers

Today we have two tricksters. The Ryzen 3 5300U and the Ryzen 5 5500U both use the 5000 name, while being built on the Zen 2 architecture. By now, they have probably managed to trick a lot of consumers, so hats off to AMD.

Despite using older technology, the processors still pack a good amount of performance, both in the 2D and 3D Rendering fields. They also come with the RX Vega 6 (15W) and RX Vega 7 (15W) iGPUs, which do a fine job at productivity tasks, while also being able to offer decent gaming performance, with mainly esports titles.

Conclusion

The Ryzen 5 5500U is the clear winner in this comparison, which is completely expected. After all, it is in a higher price class, so it would be a disgrace to have it lose to a Ryzen 3 CPU. Now, the question of “Which one should you pick?” arises. We would say to go for the Ryzen 5 5500U because laptops with it come at a fairly reasonable price that is quite close to laptops with the Ryzen 3 5300U. This essentially means that you’ll be getting more performance at a slightly higher price, which is great. Still, if you manage to find a good deal on laptops with any of these processors, feel free to buy them as they offer good performance and even better efficiency.
