First impressions of Acer Aspire V15 (V3-575G) – a stylish offering from the middle class

A couple of days ago we shared our first impressions on one of Acer’s newest models – Aspire V15 V5-591G. Today, however, we’re going to do the same but with another notebook from the same manufacturer that features the same design as the aforementioned system.

V3-575G is an alternative choice for those who enjoy the Aspire V15 series but aren’t looking for top-notch gaming performance. The CPU is 6th generation Intel Core i7 while the GPU is NVIDIA GeForce 940M Also, if you feel like taking a break to do a bit of gaming, there’s a good chance you can run most of the games out there, not on high settings, though.

Design

As we already mentioned, the appearance of V3-575G isn’t very different from that of V5-591G. The smaller brethren is made with the same NIL technology, just as the more powerful Aspire V15 model. Nanoimprint lithography is a technology that allows Acer’s developers to create devices with astonishing appearances by fusing plastic and aluminum, which, by the way, also increases the durability of the machines. The lid of the notebook features an interesting texture that is only visible when looking at it from a certain angle while Acer’s logo adds a nice finishing touch to the design.

The keys of the keyboard are spaced evenly and widely to improve the typing experience while the white LED backlight makes both the buttons easier to find and the appearance of the interior better. Perhaps our only concern is about the left Shift key. It is slightly larger than the Ctrl button, but the “/” is placed right next to it. This definitely isn’t a plus for the notebook, especially if you use the Shift button often. Just in case we didn’t make ourselves clear – take a look at the right shift key, which is full sized, and compare the two.

Acer has taken into account, that most users have their mouse on the right of their notebooks, so they’ve placed most of the ports on the left side of V3-575G. We find two USB 3.0, one HDMI, one Ethernet LAN and one VGA ports as well as the Kensington lock. The optical drive, which, by the way, V5-591G lacks, one USB 2.0 port and the DC charging port are placed on the right.

Hardware

Even though V3-575G doesn’t boast the same hardware as V5-591G, it definitely has something to offer in terms of performance. The notebook has Intel’s Core i7-6500U CPU and GeForce GT 940M GPU that will provide good enough performance for both gaming and business related tasks. Anyway, the rest of the specs on our sample include 8GB of RAM and 1TB HDD @5400 rpm. You can expect our disassembly article on V3-575G, where you’ll be able to find information about the upgrade options of the notebook as well as the placement of the internals.
