HP ProBook 450 G4 (15-inch, FHD, TN) display profiles – Quality and Health impact results

HP’s new ProBook 450 G4 uses a completely new set of hardware but the image quality stays generally the same. In the pack below, you will find the usual Health-Guard, Office work / Web design and Gaming / Movie Nights profiles, each of which will improve the overall image quality in certain aspects. You can read more about them here and how to use them. We also suggest reading our dedicated article regarding blue light emissions and PWM and how our custom profiles help eliminate both to certain extend.

The HP ProBook 450 G4 has a FHD TN panel with merely 49% sRGB coverage, really low contrast ratio (330:1), low maximum brightness (188 cd/m2) and slightly deviating color temperature. Our profiles will deliver better overall image quality by improving color reproduction, correct the gamma levels, adjust the color temperature, eliminate PWM and also limit the negative blue light emissions.

Since our profiles are tailored for each individual display model, this article and its respective profile package is meant for HP ProBook 450 G4 with 15.6″ panel manufactured by CHI MEI with model number CM15E3 featuring FHD (1920×1080) resolution and the machine can be found at Amazon.com: HP ProBook 450 G4.

Office Work / Web Design

This profile aims to deliver the most accurate colors possible in the sRGB gamut – the colors used on the Web. That makes it suitable for Office work and, in some cases, for Web Design. However, this display doesn’t have the needed sRGB color gamut coverage and contrast ratio so you will have to look for a better IPS panel for your color-sensitive work. Still, our profile will bring the average dE2000 from the whopping 12 down to a more bearable level 4.0 deviation. Take note that usually values above 4.0 are unwanted.

We’ve also adjusted the gamma curve and white balance to fit the standards.

Gaming and Movie Nights

You can take advantage of the Gaming and Movie Nights profile, which will improve the overall visibility – especially in darker areas of the image – during gaming and watching movies (you can see an example here).

Health-Guard profile

As for the Health-Guard profile, it reduces the blue light impact and eliminates the PWM. Our tests show that the laptop doesn’t use PWM from 60 cd/m2 and above, which is quite dim, so our Health-Guard profile will help only in some situations. At least you won’t have to worry about screen flickering out of the box. However, the Health-Guard profile will deliver an image with less blue light emissions for your late night work.
