Lenovo Y900 did pretty good in our screen tests – looks like Lenovo have learned their lesson

DSC07252With series of underwhelming screen quality from its previous Y50 and Y700 notebooks, Lenovo finally addressed one of the most resurfacing issues. Their latest IdeaPad Y900 gaming notebook uses near perfect IPS display surpassing the Full HD version of Alienware 17 R3 and going pretty close to the ASUS ROG G752. However, the latter can be considered a better option due to the 75 Hz refresh rate and G-Sync chip. Keep in mind that the version we have lacks G-Sync chip but we suspect Lenovo will include it in some models.

The notebook still isn’t available on the market, but check out Amazon.com regularly until it pops out.

Anyway, let’s get to the matter at hand. The Lenovo Y900 passed our tests with flying colors – 93% sRGB color gamut coverage, 331 cd/m2 maximum brightness, 6600K (close to optimal 6500K) color temperature and 1020:1 native contrast ratio. All these properties will ensure excellent image quality suitable for gaming, browsing and all sorts of multimedia content.

We are eager to see how it will perform in the rest of our tests and will it be enough to tackle the competition.
