Official: Sony launched their new Xperia X series and it already has three models – Xperia X, XA and X Performance

Now that LG, Samsung and other OEMs had their turn on the spotlight, it is time to see what new Sony has prepared for us. The Japanese manufacturer announced their new Xperia X series and revealed the first three models – Xperia X, XA and X Performance. All three phones have 5-inch screens and feature a metal frame. The devices will be available in four color options – white, black, Lime gold and Rose gold.

Xperia X

Sony Xperia X is the first device out of the three. It boasts Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 SoC with 3GB of RAM, Full HD screen, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Hi-Res Audio stereo speakers and a 2620 mAh battery, which according to the manufacturer should be able to provide up to 2 days of battery life. The phone also has 32GB of storage plus a microSD card slot.

The main focus of the device is on its cameras. Xperia X has a 23MP rear camera with Predictive Hybrid autofocus, which will continuously keep the focus on the objective you’ve chosen. According to the manufacturer, the time it will take you to open the camera app and snap a shot is only 0.6 seconds. Great news for the selfie fans too – the front-facing shooter has a 13MP sensor.

Xperia X Performance

Xperia X Performance shares some of Xperia X’s specs including the 5-inch Full HD display and the cameras. However, one of the pros of this model is that it can record videos at 4K resolution. The reason for this is the more powerful SoC inside the device – Snapdragon 820, accompanied by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Just as the Xperia X, X Performance has a fingerprint sensor “hidden” in the power button. However, this is the only model out of the three, which is dust and waterproof – IP68 certificate.

Xperia XA

The last addition to the X series is Xperia XA. Its specs are slightly less impressive as it has a 5-inch display but the resolution is the only HD, and 13MP rear and 8MP front-facing cameras. This time around, the performance of the device is taken care by MediaTek’s MT6755 SoC with 2GB of RAM. Sony’s Xperia XA doesn’t feature the stereo loudspeakers and fingerprint sensor, which the other two models from the X series offer. Furthermore, the capacity of the battery is 2300 mAh and the available storage – only 16GB. Some good news at the end, though, despite the fact that the phone belongs to a lower class than the other two devices, it still runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

There isn’t any official information about the release dates or prices of the devices.
