To make sure we are on the same page, head over to our “Laptop M.2 (NGFF) SSD Compatibility List” to see if you can find your notebook or just to contribute to the list. However, let’s take a look at what recent device’s we’ve added to the list.

For starters, the ASUS K550JX doesn’t offer an M.2 SSD slot, neither does the Acer Aspire V15 (V3-575) or the budget Acer Aspire E15 (E5-573) notebook. They all fall into the relatively affordable price range so we’re not surprised at all. Since we’ve got some of the notebooks out of the way, let’s see what else we’ve got.

The ASUS ROG GL552VW has identical storage options as the GL552JX with GeForce GTX 950M GPU, so need to add it twice and the same goes for the Dell Alienware 15 with GTX 980M. The notebook offers the same two M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD slots as its earlier version we’ve reviewed. The exciting part, though, is that the new Lenovo Y700 gaming notebook, which is a successor to the Y50, finally adds an M.2 SSD slot. It can now be equipped with an M.2 SSD, 2280 standard.

Notebooks added:

  • ASUS K550JX
  • Acer Aspire E15 (E5-573)
  • ASUS ROG GL552VW (identical to the previous model)
  • Dell Alienware 15 (identical to the previous model)
  • Lenovo Y700
