The new Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-42) multimedia series – specs, features and configurations

You know we are always on the watch for new intriguing notebooks and one such machine is namely the reason for today’s short publication. We are talking about the new Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-42) – a facelift/refresh version of the AN515-41. This bad boy is meant for multimedia purposes and budget gaming, and the most intriguing aspect here is the fact that it comes with AMD Ryzen 5 2500U and AMD Ryzen 7 2700U processors which impress with great performance. This continues the trend of incorporating AMD processors in new notebooks which will definitely spark more competition and better results. Apart from the new processors, AN515-42 is different from AN515-41 in that it now uses a carbon design language.

As for the graphics part, the machine features an AMD Vega iGPU and a discrete Radeon RX560 GPU (up to 4GB of GDDR5 memroy). The AN515-42 is an crippled variant when it comes to storage, it sounds good on paper with up to 1000GB HDD and up to 512 GB SSD, but there it ends,
The SSD M.2 slot is ONLY SATA even if the M.2 is an E-key, so no real storage speeds are possible and deffently not AMD’s StorageMI..
