What ASUS has to offer with the new ZenPad series tablets? Pixel packed screen and plenty of RAM, of course

DSC00665During the ZenSation event from ASUS at Computex 2015, the company unveiled several products from the Zen family, but the one that really caught our eye is the ZenPad 8.0 tablet that will be a direct competitor to Apple’s iPad Mini. There’s also a 10.1-inch variant with an external physical keyboard as well as 7-inch budget version.

First things first. Let’s talk about the ZenPad S 8-inch flagship as it packs QHD (2048 x 1536) IPS 8-inch screen with 4:3 aspect ratio. It also packs 4GB of RAM and 64-bit Atom Z3580 SoC from Intel. For better multimedia experience, ASUS has equipped the device with front-facing stereo DTS loudspeakers and all of this is packed inside a 298g body with 6.6 mm profile. Along with this version, ASUS outed a regular 8-inch variant with Atom x3 processor. As for the 7-inch version, it will have a significantly lower price tag with 1024 x 600 screen and we already said that the 10.1-inch version will offer external keyboard, probably with Bluetooth connectivity.

The most notable feature here, if we can say this as a “feature”, is the optional Z Stylus that can be bought separately. The stylus will offer 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity, so there’s that and the variety of cases compatible with the tablets. Zen Clutch and Zen Case will protect your device while Audio Cover adds 5.1 surround sound and Power Case will provide up to 15 hours of working time.

We like the transition from MeMO Pad series to ZenPad for now, but we can’t be sure until we lay hands on one of them.
