Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) preview – the elegant side of the middle class

Samsung officially announced their new mid-range offering Galaxy A3 (2016) last month. The model definitely raises the interest among users and we’ve decided to do a quick preview and see what it offers.

If you’re interested in the price and availability of Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) you can check them at the following link: Amazon.com.

4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED display and Android 5.1.1

This time around the smartphone offers a slightly larger screen than the previous Galaxy A3 model (4.5-inch). It measures at 4.7 inches with HD resolution (720×1280) and pixel density of 312 ppi. The panel is again Super AMOLED, provides highly saturated colors and wide viewing angles. The display also has a Gorilla Glass 4 coating to protect it from scratches and cracks.

Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, but will probably receive an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Moreover, Samsung’s TouchWiz UI is present changing the overall appearance of the menus and icons, while adding a couple of useful features to the phone.

Sleek design and 2300mAh battery

Samsung’s Galaxy A line is famous for its stylish appearance that includes an elegant, sleek and thin body with a metal frame and the Galaxy A3 (2016) is no exception as its thickness is only 7.3 mm and even though it’s slightly thicker than its predecessor, it is still impressive. The weight of the smartphone also suits its size – 132 grams. The screen bezels are very thin, which in combination with the 7.3 mm profile and the 4.7-inch screen should make the device easy to hold and use with one hand. The phone has a unibody type construction and doesn’t allow the back panel to be removed.

Due the larger display, the manufacturer has added a slightly larger battery – 2300 mAh. According to Samsung, it should be able to provide more than 14 hours of phone calls and more than 58 hours of music playback.

Snapdragon 410 and 13MP main camera

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 SoC is taking care of Galaxy A3’s (2016) performance. The mobile chip boasts four Cortex-A53 cores, but they’re clocked slightly higher – at 1.5GHz. The SoC also integrates the Adreno 306 SoC and has 1.5GB of RAM. The available storage is 16GB and if you feel that it isn’t enough, you can always expand it with up to 128GB using a microSD card.

We see a noticeable upgrade in the camera department as the phone now packs a 13MP rear shooter with autofocus, LED flash and f/1.9 aperture. The selfie fans will also be pleased to find out that the front-facing camera has a 5MP sensor with the same f/1.9 aperture allowing for better selfie shots in low light conditions.
