Snapdragon 410 (+Adreno 306) in Moto G3 vs MediaTek MT6753 (+Mali-T720) in Meizu m2 note – performance, benchmark tests and temperatures
Recently we started testing Meizu m2 note – a great offering for a mid-class device that packs a lot of neat features and nice specs. Today, however, we are going to talk about the SoC (MediaTek MT6753) of the device and the performance that brings to the table. Also, we are going to compare it to Snapdragon 410 to see which one fares better. For the purposes of this comparison, we are going to take the test results from another famous model – the third generation Motorola Moto G.

Snapdragon 410 is one of the most common SoCs found in the mid-range class. More and more manufacturers decide to go with Qualcomm’s offering, which has proven its worth and hasn’t disappointed any of them. Snapdragon 410 boasts 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.4GHz based on the ARM architecture and an Adreno 306 GPU. Aside from the high computing and graphic performance, the SoC is famous for its low energy consumption. Almost every model, which uses this chip, offers very more than satisfying battery life. Moreover, their temperatures remain low on the outside even after extended use. Although, there are very rare exceptions, when we measured more than 40 degrees on a Snapdragon 410 device.

On the other hand, MediaTek MT6753 is also aimed at the middle-class but offers eight Cortex-A53 cores clocked at higher 1.5GHz frequency, albeit in Meizu m2 note’s case it’s 1.3GHz. Thanks to the MediaTek CorePilot technology, the cores of the SoC are used intelligently, meaning you get the lowest energy consumption possible, but when it’s needed – the full capabilities and power of all the cores are unlocked. The GPU unit in the mobile chip is Mali-T720. The SoC also boasts Rel. 9, Cat. 4 LTE, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, up to 16MP cameras, and Full HD video recording @30fps.

Benchmark results
Even though both SoCs provide smooth performance, it is interesting to see how they compare to each other. In order to check that, we ran a couple of benchmarks that test the computing and graphic performance of both competitor chips. You can view the results on the graph below.
Benchmarks | Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 | Mediatek MT6753 |
---|---|---|
Geekbench 3 (Multi-Core) | 1640 | 2322 |
Vellamo 2 Metal | 675 | 694 |
GFXBench 2.7 T-Rex (offscreen) | 5.3 | 12 |
GFXBench 3 Manhattan (offscreen) | 1.7 | 2.2 |
3D Mark Ice Unlimited | 4450 | 6226 |
Pi – 10 mil. (lower is better) | 47.943 | 41,103 |
Temperatures
Now, that we’re done with the performance benchmarks, it is time to see how the SoCs handle temperatures when subjected to long periods of 3D gaming. To simulate actual 3D gaming we use the Epic Citadel app. After a couple of hours we measured the temperatures on both devices and you can see the results below.
very helpful, thanks
Excelente matéria.
thank you
I am using meizu m2 its the cheap and best awesome performance at low price
Thanhk you very much, thats good
Nice, now I know, its very important to have a knowledge in terms of processor/ hardware of devices available in market it helps you to pick the best device suitable to your needs. it’s simple yet very informative, thanks..
When reading benchmarks, does the higher number means better? Sorry I’m woman.
Sorry I’m woman? Means that you’re dumb by desing? Mother of god. About your question, except the test says (less is better) then yes. And about the test “less is better” it’s because it is a math calculation (x number of Pi’s number decimals) and the one ending first (less time) is … faster. Commonly, more is better in graphic performance. Sometimes, numbers like cores or Mhz speeds doesn’t have any kind of logic unless you pick both. Some graphic cards can have more cores with less speed, resulting in more power. It’s all about a multiplier factor… Regards. PD:… Read more »
