日本NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M – benchmark results and gaming tests
The next GPU down the pipeline from NVIDIA is the GTX 965M. A recently released mobile graphics card that aims bring performance similar to the GTX 970M and 960M – something in between. It also boasts a relatively lower price compared to the GTX 970M. Finally, we got our hands on the new GTX 965M GPU and we’ve tested it in the updated model of Alienware 15.
Despite of what a lot of people think, the GTX 965M isn’t a rebranded model of the GTX 960M, since it features a different processing unit and has similar characteristics to the 970M and 980M. To be exact, the 960M uses GM107 chip (also used in the Maxwell edition of last year’s GTX 860M), while the GTX 965M shares the same GM204 GPU with the 970M and 980M. We also have the same 28 nm manufacturing process along typical for the Maxwell family. The CUDA cores (or the unified shading units) are 1024 along with 64 texture units and 32 ROPs. Of course, the memory bus width is 128-bit that can be equipped with up to 4GB of GDDR5. The most important feature to take into account, however, is the fact that GM204 is the first NVIDIA GPU to support DirectX 11.2 API, which is a huge deal.
To be a bit more exact, the GM207 in the GTX 965M is clocked at 924MHz base operating frequency and can go up to 950MHz. It also supports features like Battery Boost, GameStream, ShadowPlay, GPU Boost 2.0, Optimus, PhysX, CUDA, SLI, GeForce Experience. Below you will find benchmark tests and some gaming tests. You can also see how the GTX 965M stacks up against other Maxwell GPUs.

What are your thoughts on GTX 860m vs 960m vs 965m. I currently shopping for a ASUS gaming laptop and idk what to chose. I don’t want to pay a premium for a marginal increase. What are some good laptops you would recommend under $1500. I am mainly going to use this for bisnuess but I may play a intensive game in the future and i want to know if my laptop could handle High or Ultra at, 60 fps. thanks for the feedback.
@Rossen Pandev do u think buying a laptop equipped with this gpu is worth it in the long run ?( i mean gtx 965 )
i’m a little hesitated between gtx 960 and 965 bcoz of the benchmark results that show they’re so close together ( from what i see in game’s 965 is about 5 to 10 fps higher than the gtx 960 ) so plz state your mind and it is much appreciated ….
The GTX 965M has more in common with 970M and 980M than 960M and will surely bring a lot better performance than the GTX 960M. And those 5-10 fps are not neglectable. If you have the chance, the GTX 965M is the better solution so go with it.
