Atom Z3745 is an extremely low-voltage, four core chip, commonly seen in Windows and Android tablets. This 22nm package is based on Silvermont architecture and has three-dimensional transistors and a higher power efficiency than its predecessors.
Because of the change in architecture, the chip sports a lot of improvements, making it faster than the previous Intel Atom Z3745. Unfortunately, HyperThreading has been removed. Still, Z3745 can hold its own against its AMD APU opponents like the A6-1450 and the A4-5000. Another important improvement is the added support of SSE 4.1 and SSE 4.2, as well as AES-NI, the latter being present in some models only.
This four core processor includes an integrated graphics controller, code name Bay Trail. It is based on “Intel Gen7” architecture, which can be seen in the “Ivy Bridge” (HD Ggraphics 4000) series. Due to the small number of execution thread blocks (4) and the low base frequency of the graphics accelerator (778 Mhz), over all, the chip is slower than the HD Graphics in “Ivy Bridge”. Still, games like FIFA and WOW do not present any problems and offer smooth gameplay. Streaming at 2560×1600 also presents no problem.
Power consumption of the entire SoC is under 4 watts, which makes the chip suitable for passivecooling devices like tablets
