[Comparison] Intel Core i7-1165G7 vs AMD Ryzen 5 4500U – Team Blue finally scores a win against AMD both in terms of CPU and GPU
Today we have prepared for you a very close comparison, we are putting the already famous Intel Core i7-1165G7 against the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U. Both CPUs are in the Top 30 of our Top Laptop CPU Ranking. The Core i7 is built on the 10nm Tiger Lake architecture, while The Ryzen 5 uses the well known Zen2. While the Ryzen has more cores they have lower boost frequency so this really makes the comparison close.
We are also putting both iGPUs against one another to see if this new Intel iGPU tech can take a win off of Team Red.
You can find detailed information about the CPUs and their respective integrated GPUs here:

CPU benchmarks
The results of the CPU tests were, for once, favoring Intel. The Core i7 managed to perform better in both the 3D Rendering test and the Adobe Photoshop rendering benchmark. The Intel offering had an 8,1% higher score in the Cinebench 15 rendering test and was a whole second faster in Photoshop.

GPU benchmarks
If a couple of years back you would have said that an Intel GPU would be a serious competitor in the space, e would have told you were crazy. But 2020 is a crazy year after all, so it is no surprise that the Iris Xe Graphics G7 managed to perform from 43% up to 50% better in our GPU benchmarks.
De resultaten zijn afkomstig van de 3DMark: Time Spy (Graphics) benchmark (hoe hoger de score, hoe beter)

---|---|---|---|
Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 | 168 fps | 120 fps | 70 fps |
AMD Radeon RX Vega 6 | 109 fps | 76 fps | 53 fps |
DOTA 2 | HD 1080p, Low (Check settings) | HD 1080p, Normal (Check settings) | HD 1080p, High (Check settings) |
---|---|---|---|
Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 | 123 fps | 87 fps | 60 fps |
AMD Radeon RX Vega 6 | 111 fps | 73 fps | 42 fps |
Conclusion
The results bode very well for Intel. An 8% lead in Cinebench and 16% lead in Photoshop show that they still have some bite and are not all bark. As far as the iGPU tests were concerned, both in the benchmarks and in the game tests Intel’s Iris Xe Graphics G7 was domination over the AMD Radeon RX Vega 6. This really feels like Intel is slowly making a comeback, which can only bode well for the consumers. Competition is what drives innovation and the more competition, the better products the consumers will get.

All laptops with the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U:
Wth, ofc the Intel variant win, it is a Core i7 vs Ryzen 5, the i7 is much more expensive than Ryzen 5, heck, it is EVEN more expensive than most Ryzen 7 laptop, what a “stupendous” article!
In the market now, Aya neo handheld is priced as much as OneXPlayer and they are sporting these CPUs. IMO, this is a good comparison.
