Moving to Geekbench 5, the single Core performance of the M2 Max is astonishing, beating our the Core i9 by 2%. However, the higher core count of the Intel chip speaks for itself in the Multi-core test, with a 35% lead, which still means that the M2 Max means serious business when it comes to performing well, especially when you factor in the integrated graphics of the SoC. We have a preliminary comparison of the M2 Max’s GPU against the RTX 3080 Ti, which shows that the Apple chip has around half of the performance of the NVIDIA Graphics. An M2 Max MacBook will also be lighter than most configs with a Core i9-13900HX, as well as have longer battery life, as MacBooks are incredibly efficient.
