ASUS TUF Gaming F15 FX507 review – there are too many versions

Design and construction

ASUS has made the TUF Gaming F15 FX507 pretty tough. Yes, there is a little flex in both the lid and the base. However, the base is super elastic, which gives us a lot of confidence in weird situations.

Furthermore, the device has passed numerous MIL-STD-810H durability tests. Its lid is made out of aluminum, while the rest of the body panels are plastic. The design is quite similar to what we saw last year, but the TUF logo on the back is slightly protruding.

In terms of dimensions, the laptop is 22.4-24.9mm thick and weighs 2.20 kilos, which is pretty normal for a machine of this screen size. Thankfully, its lid opens with one hand and has extremely thin side bezels. The bottom one has a weird shape, while the top one features a notch, which houses the HD Web camera.

As you can see, the benefit of the thin side bezels is that the keyboard is basically spanning the entire width of the base. It has a NumberPad section and a 1-zone RGB backlight. The key travel is decent, while the feedback is clicky. We have one remark, however – the Arrow keys are too small.

On the bright side, the Power button is separated from the main keyboard. You can also see three media keys and an Armoury Crate shortcut in the top right section of the base.

Moving further down below, we see the huge touchpad. It is super smooth, very responsive, and provides accurate tracking. We find it as one of the good units on the market.

A quick look at the bottom panel shows us the location of the speakers, as well as the precisely-shaped ventilation grill. Hot air, on the other hand, escapes the laptop through two vents on the back of the laptop, and one on the right side. Keep in mind that RTX 3060, and RTX 3070 models will have a vent on the left too.

Ports

On the left side, you will find the power plug, a LAN port, an HDMI 2.0b connector, one Thunderbolt 4 port, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port which supports DisplayPort output with G-Sync, a USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port, and an audio jack. Then, on the right, there is a Kensington lock slot and another USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) port.

Why in the ‘CPU variants’ it shows a score of 13770 for the Intel Core i7-12700H while in the Cinebench R23 CPU test it shows a score of 15062 for the same test.
Is that a mistake in your article?
Thank you.
