MSI WS76 (11Ux): Full Specs

Design

Just by looking at the laptop, you can figure out that it bears a strong resemblance to the MSI GS series, which is more oriented towards gamers. This is becoming quite the trend in workstation laptops, with manufacturers repurposing their gaming laptop platforms and fitting them with professional-grade hardware. The laptop looks to be built entirely out of metal, which would decrease the thickness, making it more comfortable to carry around. Also, despite being a 17-incher, the laptop weighs only 2.45 kg and is around 20 mm thick, which is fantastic when considering the size and the hardware inside.

Display

The laptop offers a total of three display choices. The entry model gets a Full HD IPS panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. The next two displays increase the resolution to 4K, with the second one even coming with a 120Hz refresh rate. The 4K panels have HDR1000 support, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, and True color technology, which gives the display a dE value less than 2.0, which is perfect for color-sensitive work.

Specifications and features

Being a high-end workstation laptop, it gets high-end specs. There are two CPUs to pick from – the Core i7-11800H and the Core i9-11900H. Both of these chips have so far performed exceptionally in other laptops, so we only hope that MSI can create a good powertrain for consumers to enjoy. As for the graphics, you get the newest RTX Ampere professional graphics, with both the RTX A3000 and A5000 being available.

The laptop comes with a 99.9Wh battery, which is found on a lot of other MSI laptops. This should give the laptop relatively long battery life, for workstations and gaming laptop standards. With Wi-Fi 6E and Thunderbolt 4 support, you get the latest connectivity standards. The I/O on the device is pretty wide as well, with the laptop getting one Thunderbolt 4 port, one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 2) port, two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 2) ports, HDMI and RJ-45 connectors, a MicroSD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
