The display (CMN1738 Y4PG7-17HCE; N173HCE-E31) is a 1080p IPS panel that has a good contrast ratio – 1250:1 (1140:1 after profiling), a 94% sRGB coverage, and thanks to our “Gaming and Web design profile” the average dE value is just 1.8.
2. Upgradability
The upgradability options look good, especially for the end price of this device – two RAM SODIMMs, and the max supported memory size is 16GB of DDR4 RAM. There is an M.2 slot as well as a regular 2.5″ SATA slot.

1. The build quality
If we have to honest, the laptop looks a bit old school because of the thick bezels and the overall design. The profile is thick too, the weight is on the high side and you can’t open the lid with a single hand.
2. The cooling
For the cooling we have one heat pipe and one fan – that’s all. The consequences – 89°C CPU temperature combined with high noise.

Bought this. Overall nice laptop. Lovely screen. Decent keyboard. However, keys are smaller than normal. I actually like the build-quality. Sure, it’s plastic, but those carbon-fibre-looking ripples looks and feels very nice. It’s heavy but solidly-built. I have no issue with its performance, though the temperature occasionally hits between 90-100 degrees, despite just doing normal daily stuff (and I even have a laptop cooler underneath it). As I am sadly discovering while trying to hook up my wifes 3793 to a 1440p display for greater productivity… It cannot display 1440p or 4k thru the HDMI port.
Seriously. Why did Dell do this? (and yes, I’ve tried several forums. But it seems to be a conscious decision by Dell to cripple these laptops in this way)
