Finally, the Tiger Lake CPUs are here which means that we can test the brand new iGPUs. Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 is the top dog here. Mind that there are two iterations – one with 96EUs and one with 80 EUs. Today we are having a look at the 96 EUs option. These fresh integrated graphics cards bring more performance to the table alongside faster and more efficient CPUs compared to the previous-gen products like Ice Lake.
So, without further ado, let’s see what is the Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 with its 96EUs capable of.

Specs overview
Nothing special here, as an iGPU the Iris Xe G7 relies on the system memory which means that it allocates part of the RAM. And yes, you can boost the performance additionally with faster memory sticks like the LPDDR4x at 4267 MHz but despite that, its faster clock speed is cut short by the reduced bandwidth of the LPDDR4x memory, compared to the “regular” DDR4. This means that often times, having a 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM would be better than being equipped with the former type.
Some specs – this time the new one uses an optimized 10nm+ tech process (ah, Intel, and their favorite pluses), the shaders are 96, and we have 28 ROPs and 400 MHz – (up to) 1350 MHz base and boost clocks. The TDP levels can vary between 15W and 28W, the latter is probably reserved for notebooks with a bit better cooling solution.

Verdict
Not bad at all. The Iris Xe G7 Graphics is a capable iGPU that is much faster than the old “blue” integrated solutions like UHD 620. For sure it’s even faster than the previous Iris graphics (G4 and G7) but we’ll need some time to check the performance difference between the two generations.
It seems like the Iris Xe G7 is in the same league with 15W versions of AMD Radeon RX Vega 6 and Vega 7 (Ryzen 4000), and even with the low end of the low-end NVIDIA MX GPUs like MX110 and MX130 which would be a good idea for future video card comparisons.

This iGPU has big focus in eSport titles but not so much for AAA titles. Might be good for small laptop, something likes the GPD.
