[Comparison] ASUS VivoBook 15 F513 vs VivoBook 15 F512 – what’s new?

ASUS unveils the new ASUS VivoBook 15 F513 devices, among so many other new notebooks from this company at CES 2020. The 2019 model, the F512, is still a good device with thing bezels, acceptable weight, full-sized keyboard, and affordable price – for more information regarding the F512 model, you can check our in-depth review.

The new one is an improved version with more advanced CPU options, new connectivity options, and less weight. Sounds good enough for us, let’s check the new specs and we will compare the new one with the F512 model.

Design: low weight and thinner profile

The bezels around the display are thicker than the 2019 model – new panels are used. It’s a slim and light device with just 18.6mm profile and 1.7kg weight. Wherever you need to go with this machine it’ll be an easy task. The color options – Cobalt Blue, Dreamy White, and Bespoke Black.

Hardware: Comet Lake inside

10th Gen CPUs will power the new Vivobook F513. You can choose from a CPU’s with up to 4 cores like i3-10110U, i5-10210U, and i7-10510U. Expectedly, the iGPU is Intel UHD Graphics. There are dedicated GPU options as well but ASUS isn’t very clear about the specific models. The only official info, for now, is “the latest NVIDIA GeForce GPU”.

Display: IPS and TN panels

Maybe the display quality will be better (as we already informed you, there are new panels) because we aren’t very happy with the display of the F512 (N156HGA-EA3 CMN15F5). The F513 configurations feature 15.6″ IPS panels and a TN display as well (probably with quick response and poor viewing angles – typical for a TN panel).

Other specs: bigger battery, a decent amount of ports, and no NumberPad 2.0

The battery unit has been upgraded from 37Wh to 42Wh. Luckily enough, there is a full-size keyboard (with increased key travel to 1.4mm), SATA slot for regular 2.5″ HDDs, and an M.2 slot. Wi-Fi 6 connectivity is optional. The I/O section looks promising – a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Type A), a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Type-C), two USB 2.0, an audio jack, and an SD card reader.
