The smartphone manufacturers know that every user wants a phone with a great battery life, but the problem is that they also want a thin and good-looking phone. So if you put a big battery in a phone, you can’t expect a thin body. The Chinese company ThL, which is popular with its phones, offers a model with a high-capacity 5000 mAh battery. This sounds very promising. Its name is THL 5000 (not exactly incredibly creative) but what is more interesting is that it has relatively normal thickness. THL claims that it is 8.9 mm, but we measured a profile of 10.1 mm. That is a bit of a margin, but it still looks normal. The big question here is how durable the battery is. Now we have an answer.

We tested the battery in several ways – phone calls, web browsing, watching movies, and gaming. You can talk on the phone for 1658 minutes (27 hours and 38 minutes) which is a good result but perhaps not as much as we expected. After all, it is a 5000 mAh battery. As a quick comparison – Galaxy S6’s battery has a capacity of 2550 mAh, iPhone 6 – 1810 mAh and LG G3 – 3000 mAh.

In our Wi-Fi browsing test things look different. The device managed to stay on for 923 minutes (15 hours and 23 minutes) – a superb result. In the 3D gaming test it gets 305 minutes (5 hours and 5 minutes) – it isn’t the greatest result but it’s not bad. Keep in mind that it is our most intensive test. And finally, our video test. Here the result is 683 minutes (11 hours and 23 minutes). Again, probably not precisely what one would expect.

What do you think of these results? If you want more battery life you have to wait for 6000 mAh or 7000 mAh smartphones. We all know that the Chinese companies can do anything.
